Ralph Hensley


MUNCIE, IN

Ralph D. Hensley, 88, passed away Monday, September 23, 2013 at Morrison Woods Health Campus in Muncie.

Ralph was born on July 15, 1925 to Clarence and Ethel May (Jackson) Hensley in Daleville, Indiana. He was a graduate of Muncie Central High School and lived in Delaware County most of his life and had resided in Florida.

He served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He worked at Warner Gear/Borg Warner for 45 years, retiring in 1988. Ralph also owned R & S Laundry on E. Jackson St. in Muncie. He was a member of the Eaton Masonic Lodge #606 for 66 years and served as Master of the Lodge in 1973.

Survivors include three sons, Phillip (Diane) Hensley, Steven (Dorothy) Hensley, and Dana (Angie) Hensley; eight step-children, Barbara (Terry) Cox, Betty (Joe) Crawford, Richard (Elaine) Wilson, Diana (Gary) Zimmerman, J. Charlene (Rod) Davis, Rev. Pamela Y. Mason, Kimberly Laine Hathecock, and Mason Yost; a brother, Clarence “Dink” (Jerri) Hensley, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a special friend, Margaret.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ethel, his wife, Shannon M. Beaty (12-1-1984), another wife, E. Bridget Mason-Yost (10-25-08), his children, David Hensley and Linda Spradlin, a brother, Merle “Butch” Hensley, and a sister, Betty Vorhees.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, with Rev. Chuck Paul officiating. Burial with military rites by the Delaware County Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

Visitation for family and friends will be at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, September 27, 2013 and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. A masonic service will take place at 7:45 P.M. on Friday.
