Charles "Chucky" Brooks, Jr.


MUNCIE, IN

Charles W. “Chucky” Brooks, Jr, 48, passed away unexpectedly on August 22, 2013.

Charles was born on June 27, 1965 in Muncie, Indiana to Charles Sr. and Fay (Parrish) Brooks.   Charles lived his entire life in the Muncie area, attending Northside High School and then working at the Local 1112 Laborer’s Union. 

Charles raised his four children and attended New Covenant Ministries where he helped out with various things.  He enjoyed panning for gold, fishing, and caring for his pet raccoon, Meko. 

He is survived by his children: Jessica Erwin (husband, Richard), Danielle Helms, Brandon Brooks, and Ashley Cunnington, his mother, Fay Brooks, a brother, Robert Brooks (wife, Jennifer), six grandchildren: Damien, Kylie, Chelsea, Christian, Tyler, and Madison. 

Charles was preceded in death by his father, Charles Sr.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home , 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Pastor Kenneth Dodson presiding.  Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory.

Visitation for friends and family will be on Wednesday, from 11:00 to 1:00 pm.

Mary Lou King


MUNCIE,

Mary Lou King, 87, aka, Cupcake the Clown, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2013 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Mary was born on April 25, 1926 in Muncie, Indiana to Andrew and Nellie (Achey) Seal.  She was a 1944 graduate of Muncie Central High School.  She married Forrest V. Keeley Jr. with whom she had two children, David and Frances.

Mary was very active.  She was a member of Union Chapel, Home Extension Club, Purdue Extension Gardening Club, Clowns on the Ball, the World Clown Association and also served as president of Church Women United.

Mary worked for Ball State University for 31 years, retiring in 1988.

She is survived by her children: Frances Young, and David Keeley (Mike Fordyce), three grandchildren: William Young (Cathy), Sally Stapleton (Tim), and Andrew Young (Rachael), five great-grandchildren: Steven, Shanon and Sam Stapleton, and Brooke and Amarah Young, seven step-sons, one step-daughter, as well as numerous other family. 

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, Forrest Keeley, Desco Flick and Elvis King, as well as six brothers and two sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, August 26, 2013 at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Rev. Mike Armstrong officiating.  Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory.

Visitation for friends and family will be from 11:00 to 1:00 pm. Monday, August 25, prior to services.

Carolyn Sue Hardin


HARTFORD CITY, IN
 
Carolyn Sue Hardin, 67, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Sue was born on November 20, 1945 to Daniel and Irene Withers in Russell Springs, Kentucky.

She graduated from Eaton High School and married Jimmie Ray Hardin at the old Eaton Fire station on May 24, 1961. 

Sue worked at New Meridian Foods for over 28 years. She attended Eaton First Baptist Church for over 52 years and served as the church secretary for several years.

Survivors include her husband, of 52 years, Jimmie Hardin; a son, Jimmie Jr. (Sandra) Hardin; a daughter, Rebecca Hardin; three brothers, Richard (Barbara) Withers, Jerry (Doris) Withers, and Johnny Withers; two sisters, Mary Lou Elam and Linda Mason; three grandchildren, Bill, Devin and Michael; two step-granddaughters, Allison Calvary, and Chelsey Blair and one step-grandson, Dylan Cronkite, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Lisa Lyn Hardin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, with Pastor Danny Withers officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Visitation for family and friends will be at the funeral home on Monday, August 26, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Marjorie Penrod


Eaton, IN

Marjorie Penrod, 95, passed away, Friday, July 26, 2013 at Albany Health Care and Rehabilitation in Albany.

Marjorie was born in Eaton on August 31, 1917 to John “Ray” and Vashti Carmichael.  She graduated from Eaton High School and married Stephen Penrod.  Together they had two children, Edward and Robert.

Marjorie served as the Eaton Town Clerk from 1976 to 1979 and worked for the Democrat Party at elections.  She was twice awarded by the Governor of Indiana for the many hours she spent volunteering.  Marjorie was very active at the Eaton First Church of God, where she served as a Sunday school teacher.

She is survived by her grandchildren: Greg Penrod, Janet White, Tony Penrod, John Penrod, Peggy Stonger, Steve Penrod, and Patrick Penrod, 19 great-grandchildren, and 31, great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband Stephen, she was preceded in death by her two sons: Edward Penrod and Robert Penrod, four brothers: Gerald L. Carmichael, Malcolm K. Carmichael, Ray M. (Bud) Carmichael, and Sgt. Dale M. Carmichael, who was lost at the Bay of Bengal.

A Graveside Service will be held at Union Cemetery, 16301 N. State Road 3, Eaton, on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 1:00 P.M.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, Eaton.
