Mary L. (Spangler) Taylor, 87

HARTFORD CITY, IN

MARY L. (SPANGLER) TAYLOR, 87, passed away Thursday morning December 24, 2009, at her home.

The daughter of Edward and Mary Etta (Talbert) Spangler, she was born November 20, 1922, in Daleville, Indiana. Mary was a graduate of Daleville High School, class of 1940, and obtained her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Speech and Hearing Therapy from Ball State University. She married Donald C. Taylor on February 1, 1947.

A teacher for 25 years, Mary taught in Anderson for one year before starting the Speech and Hearing Program for Blackford Community Schools. She was a charter member of the Daleville Eastern Star, attended the Eaton United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. Mary enjoyed ballroom dancing, reading, quilting, traveling, and following her grandchildren’s activities.

In addition to her husband of 63 years, Donald C. Taylor, she is survived by two daughters, Linda (Tom) Smelser, Indianapolis, and Cinda Taylor, Goshen, three sisters: Marcella Marlett Hollis, Muncie, Charlotte Costerison, Anderson, and Naomi Reese, Ft. Wayne, two grandsons, Brandon Smelser, Indianapolis, and Michael (Shelly) Smelser, Walnut Creek, CA, one granddaughter, Michelle Smelser (partner, Russel Cloncs), Sebastapol, CA, a great-grandson, Austin Smelser, Indianapolis, two sisters-in-law, Hannah Taylor, Warren, and Harriett Spangler (Wilson) Roberts, Anderson, and a son-in-law, Jim (Marty) Perkins, Muncie, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Susan Perkins, one sister, Crevia Reed, eight brothers: George, John, Clarence, Elmer, Walter, Clifford, Clark, and Arthur Spangler.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2009, in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, with Pastor Keith Williams presiding. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, December 28, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services Tuesday. Eastern Star services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Hazel L. Chappell, 78

EATON, IN

HAZEL L. CHAPPELL, 78, passed away, Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Ball Memorial Hospital.

The daughter of Elijah and Laura (Howard) Brock, she was born May 10, 1931 in Bell County, Kentucky. Hazel married Lonnie Chappell on January 6, 1948 in Leslie County, Kentucky.

A mother and homemaker, Hazel lived in Michigan and retired from Supples Green House in 1993, moving to the Eaton area in 1994. She loved to read, sew, watch T.V. She was also a gardener of flowers and known to be a great storyteller.

Surviving are her children, Jerry Chappell (wife, Debbie), Glenda White (husband, Dan), Dorcas Dierich (husband, Brian), Shirley Gee, and Frances Swick, one sister, Virginia Axline, grandchildren: Laura, Kenny, Amanda, Jessica, Corinna, Ciara, Brandon, and Nathan, 8 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Elijah and Laura, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Chappell, grandson, Jimmy Nowitzke, brothers: Norimus Brock, Denver Brock, and Clyde Brock, a sister, Shirley Brock, and a son-in-law, Joe Swick.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm., Monday, December 14, 2009 in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, with Rev. Karen Lang presiding. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Barbara J. Smith, 65

BARBARA J. SMITH, 65, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2009 at her home.

The daughter of Charles and Florence “Smith” Guyear, she was born March 9, 1944 in Delaware County. She married William Lee Smith on June 6, 1963 in Muncie.

Barbara worked for Lifetouch in Muncie as a photo editor, and loved painting, puzzle games, and most of all her grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children, William Smith (wife, Terra), of Eaton, Cindy Chisman, of Glendale, AZ, and Nancy Clawson (husband, Jeff) of Eaton, three sisters: Betty Prator, Norma Bennett, and Bonnie Barger, six grandchildren, Jared, Jordan, Cody, Johnny, David and Braydon, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Charles and Florence, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Lee Smith, and a brother, Bill Guyear.

DOROTHY B. BAILEY, 86, passed away Monday, November 23, 2009 in Ball Memorial Hospital.

The daughter of Frank and Lillie May (Upton) Matchett, she was born December 24, 1922 in Muncie. She married John Bailey on July 20, 1940 in Muncie.

In addition to being a homemaker, Dorothy worked at the Eaton Canning Factory.

She is survived by her husband John Bailey, two sons: Larry Bailey (wife, Jo), of Eaton, and John Bailey, of Eaton, three sisters: Ethel Hutchens, Annabelle Gray, both of Eaton, and Thelma McCallister (husband, Bud) of Parker City, 7 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 step-great grandchildren and 1 step great-great grandchild.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lillie Matchett, one son, Randy Bailey, four brothers, Claude, Morris, Don and Art, four sisters: Mary Lou, Helen, Susie, Sylvia, and Marie.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, November 25, 2009 in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, with Rev. Earlene Lamperd and Rev. Scott Lamperd presiding. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory.

Glenn "Tommy" E. Blair, 82

GLENN “TOMMY” E. BLAIR, 82, passed away, November 17, 2009 in Albany Health Care and Rehabilitation, Albany.

The son of Cliffton and Esther (Young) Blair, he was born January 21, 1927 in Wells County, Indiana. Tommy worked for Muncie Novelty, Gaston Pro Care, and loved to fish with his friend Glenn Cross.

He is survived by four brothers: Max Blair (wife, Delphia), John Blair, (wife, Pat) Fred Blair, (wife, Avis) and Joe Blair, three sisters: Annabel Matthew, Marie Lewis (husband Bob), and Justine Orcutt (husband, Jim), as well as several nieces and nephews.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Cliffton and Esther Blair, a brother Roger and a sister Armatha Bryan.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Thursday, November 19, 2009 in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Pastor Steve DeLisle presiding. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Todd M. Adams, 61

TODD M. ADAMS, 61, passed away, Monday morning November 2, 2009 in his home.

The son of Robert and Willa (Keeley) Adams, he was born October 30, 1948 in Muncie. A 1966 graduate of Eaton High School, he married Janie Johnson on September 11, 1999 in Eaton.

Todd retired as a Sergeant from the Army in 1995 after 18 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 90 and the National Hot Rod Association. Todd loved music, gardening, bowling and restoring old trucks.

Surviving are his wife, Janie Johnson-Adams, mother, Willa Adams, one son, Jamie Adams of Pendleton, two daughters; Sue Reed and Heather Clements, both of Muncie, three step-sons: Tom Johnson (wife, Deb), of Attica, Michael Scott Johnson, and Shane Johnson, both of Eaton, two brothers, Bob Adams (wife Terri) of Decatur, and Greg Adams (wife, Valerie) of Montpelier, one sister Jennifer Horsley (husband, John) of Hartford City, one step-grandson, Nicholas Johnson and a step-granddaughter, Maggie Johnson, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Robert Adams.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 4 in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, with Pastor Keith Williams and Pastor Forest Bowers presiding. Burial with Military Rites by the Delaware County Veterans Organization will be made in Gardens of Memory.

Margaret E. Clevenger, 94, former resident of Portland and Eaton, died Wednesday, October, 14, 2009 in Venice, Florida.

The daughter of Orrington “Red” and Lella Etta (Hollingsworth) Lucas, she was born July 9, 1915 in Redland, Oklahoma. She married George House in Muncie on August 9, 1936. His death occurred January 1, 1979. She then married Everett Clevenger in Portland on November 20, 1980. His death occurred September 13, 2006.

A homemaker, she had resided in Eaton and Muncie and had lived in Portland from 1980 to 2008 when she moved to Florida.

Margaret attended the Full Gospel Tabernacle, Muncie.

Surviving are: a son, Ralph House, Topping, VA; 4 daughters, Betty Drown, Sarah (Adam) Gerle, both of Nokomis, FL., Diane (Larry) Norris, Bluffton, Barbara (Jerry) Stevens, Fort Wayne; 5 step-children, Jesse Clevenger, Keith Clevenger, Rex Clevenger,
Judy LeMaster, and Julie Clevenger, all of Portland; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jayne Cicatko, a step-son, Max Clevenger, a brother, Edward Lucas and 3 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2009, in Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, Indiana. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow.

Doris Irene VanPelt

EATON, IN

Doris VanPelt went to be in the arms and glory of God on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at the Muncie Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. The daughter of Mary Emma and Stephen McCollum, she was born on September 1, 1916 in Reynolds, Indiana.

Mrs. VanPelt was a graduate of Reynolds High School (Class of 1934). She was married to Carl (Gene) VanPelt and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They shared many happy years visiting with family and friends during travel to various locations in the U.S. with their Airstream.

Survivors include her husband Carl (Gene) VanPelt of Eaton; son Richard Williams (fiancé, Joyce Rhoades) of Selma; Granddaughters: Melissa Morton (fiancé, David Sanders) of Eaton and Regina Cox of Muncie; Great Grandchildren: Isaac Morton and Olivia Morton of Eaton; Baylee Cox and Cameron Cox of Muncie; sister-in-law, Helen McCollum of Hartford City; brother-in-law Jack VanPelt of Eaton; sister-in-law, Beverly Stonebraker (husband, Harold) of Muncie and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and nine brothers.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 14, in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Pastor Keith Williams presiding. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory.

During her final days Mrs. VanPelt was greatly assisted and comforted by various nurses and aides with Ball Memorial Hospice, as well as the staff at Muncie Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. In addition, the family is deeply grateful for the professional and caring work of CNA and friend Debbie Schink.

Rosemary A. Mansfield-Oliver

ROSEMARY A. MANSFIELD-OLIVER, 60, quietly passed away, October 4, 2009, to be with her Lord.

Rosemary was the daughter of Cassius P. and June R. (David) Mansfield. She was born November 27, 1948 in Marion, Indiana. She was raised in Eaton and later moved to Muncie. She had many friends in both places.

Rosemary worked at various GM plants in the area and was an adoring Grandmother who valued her friends.

Surviving are her daughter, Angelic Marie Wood, Muncie, brother, Cassius D. Mansfield (wife, Linda), Russiaville, two grandsons, Jayson Wood and Tristan Bell, who Rosemary loved very much. She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph La Mott.

KAYLA DAWN BALL, 22, rural Gaston, passed away Thursday morning at home, after a nearly 3 year battle with cancer.

The daughter of Warren “Sonny” and Nancy Ball, she was born September 5, 1986.
She was a 2005 graduate of Wes-Del High School. Kayla had worked with her parents at Kayla’s Kones.

Kayla is survived by her beautiful daughter Kyla, parents Warren “Sonny” and Nancy Ball, Gaston, paternal grandmother, Marie Ball, Albany, aunts and uncles: Robert Norton (wife, Marge) Lapeer, MI, Marilyn Ottevaere (husband, Jim) Washington, MI, Ronald Norton, Warren, MI, Greg Ball (wife, Kim) of Redkey, as well as many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Warren H. Ball and maternal grandparents, Stanley & Frances Norton.

CHARLES “BUB” BAILEY, JR., 47, passed away, Tuesday, September 1, 2009 in Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.

The son of Charles Sr. and Beverly (Jett) Bailey-McKinley, he was born October 21, 1961 in Muncie. A 1980 graduate of Delta High School, he married Regina G. Paul on July 1, 1989 in Muncie.

Bub worked as a used car coordinator for Bill McCoy Ford for 20 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and fireworks with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Regina, daughter, Kelsea L Bailey (special friend, Brian Hunt II), son, Charles Michael Bailey, both at home, step-father, Fred McKinley, Eaton, sister, Dorrie L. Lopez (husband, John) Woodstock, GA, and their children, John Charles Lopez and Robert Lopez, as well as several additional nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, two sisters-in-law, Rhonda Fitzgerald (husband, Jason) Indianapolis, Lisa Keown (husband, James) Windfall, and two brothers-in-law Eric Paul (wife, Missy) Muncie, and Kevin Badders (wife, Kristen) Muncie.

Bub was preceded in death by his parents Charles Bailey Sr. and Beverly Bailey-McKinley.

LOUIE V. WRIGHT, 68, went home to his Lord, Sunday, August 30, 2009 in Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.

The son of Herbert S. and Georgia E. (Rathel) Wright, he was born April 4, 1941 in Eaton. Louie graduated from Eaton High School in 1960 and married Shirley McLeland on February 18, 1962 in Eaton.

Louie worked for RockTenn in Eaton retiring in 1996 after 23 years of employment and was a member of the Albany Euchre Club.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shirley, four sons: David T. Wright, Eaton, Timothy M. Wright, Shideler, Michael K. Wright (wife, Megan), Gaston, and Timothy J. Wright, Shideler, two brothers, William Hurley, Ohio and Eugene Wright (wife, Joanna) Granville, seven sisters: Betty Connor, Muncie, Dorothy Schroeder, (husband, Richard), Muncie, Alberta June Clark, Muncie, Sara Wolf, (husband, John), Farmland, twin sister, Kay Chism (husband, Dale), Dunkirk, Becky Eppard, Eaton, and Judy Egly (husband, Frank) of Eaton, three grandchildren: Tyler, Duane and Courtney Wright.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Robert W. Norrick, 86

EATON, IN

ROBERT W. (BOB) NORRICK, 86, passed away, 12:35 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2009 in the Muncie Health Care & Rehabilitation Center.

The son of Robert Wayne and Bessie Anne (Innis) Norrick, he was born June 5, 1923 in Tipton County, Indiana. A 1941 graduate of Eaton High School, he married Vernice Lewellen, on February 20, 1943 in Eaton. A Navy Veteran of WWII, he retired in 1977 from Warner Gear after 30 years of employment.

Bob was an active and long time member of the Eaton United Methodist Church, where he served as Trustee and on various committees. A 50 year member of the Eaton Lodge #606 F&AM, where he served as Master in 1969; was a member of the Scottish Rite- Valley of Ft. Wayne, Past Associate Guardian of Jobs Daughters, and had also worked at Lake View Golf Course for 12 years.

Bob was a member of the WGE Credit Union, where he served on the Board of Directors for 29 years. Bob had also worked part time for Pitman-Richman Funeral Home for over 20 years, retiring in 2005.

His surviving family include his wife of 66 years, Vernice Norrick, daughters, Cheryl McKinley (husband, Mike), Eaton, Susan (Susie) DeVault (husband, Jack) Tipton, sister, Jane Huffman (husband, William), Eaton, granddaughter, Amy Vandergriff (husband, Tim), Tipton, great-grandson Brayden Vandergriff, and sister-in-law Sue Norrick, Gaston, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dick Norrick in 1995 and Jack Norrick in 2007.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2009 in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Pastor Dave Mantor and Pastor Keith Williams presiding. Private burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

SANDRA A. (PITMAN) REES, 49, died at 2:25 pm Wednesday, August 19, 2009, in Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.

Sandy was born March 6, 1960, the daughter of Robert and Iva (Thompson) Pitman. She grew up in Eaton and lived most of her adult life in Muncie.

Surviving are her daughter Brandie Cook (husband, Brad) and grandson Rees Cook, all of Yorktown, brothers Gale Pitman, Hartford City, Roger Pitman, (wife, Cathy), Muncie, Rick Pitman (wife, Laura) Clearwater, FL, sisters: Mary Smithers (husband, Chuck), Muncie, Lynn Cruea, Clearwater, FL and Debra Massey (husband, Rick), Muncie. She is also survived by her Fiancé, Jeffery K. Wood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Christina Pitman, Doris Dunlap, Lucille Williams, Kimberly Polios and Beverly Koons, and two brothers, Glen and Vernon Pitman.

Russell Lowell Alexander, 94

EATON, IN

RUSSELL LOWELL ALEXANDER, 94, rural Eaton, passed away Friday, August 14, 2009 in his home, surrounded by family.

The son of Blanch and Lillie (Dill) Alexander, he was born June 27, 1915 in Randolph County. A 1934 graduate of Royerton High School, he married Mary Ellen Burt on November 25, 1939 in the home of Mary’s parents.

Lowell was a lifetime farmer and was a member of the Eden Church.

Surviving are his children, Gary (wife, Dr. Julie) Alexander, rural Eaton, Mary Ann (husband, Kin) Kinlaw, Atlanta, GA, and Dan (wife, Cathy) Alexander, rural Muncie, 14 grandchildren: Scott (wife, Valerie) Alexander, Stephanie (husband, Jeff) Welch, Ben Alexander, Megan Alexander, Justin (wife, Mikelle) Brady, Alison (husband, Tobi) Rohwer, Kelly (husband, John) Blake, Jeff Kinlaw, Jack Alexander, Cassie Alexander, Chris Alexander, Brad Alexander, Suzanne Alexander and Desiree (husband, Michael) Freyburger, 15 great-grandchildren, as well as a special thanks to, Grandpa’s Angels.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Ellen, in 2004, a son, Thomas, in 1987, four brothers: George, Robert, Lawrence, and Cecil, and a sister, Celia Alexander.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm, Monday, August 17, 2009 in the Eden Church 11205 N. St. Rd 3. Muncie, with Dr. Max Hayden & Rev. Marc Hayden presiding. Private burial will be in Gardens of Memory.

Friends may call at the church from 2:30 pm until service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Eden Church or Ball Memorial Hospice.

GILBERT L. “GIB” HARDESTY

EATON, IN

Gilbert L. “Gib” Hardesty, 89, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Muncie Health and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness.

A native of Randolph County, Indiana, he was born June 19, 1920, the son of Lee and Leddie (Jones) Hardesty and had resided in Eaton since 1962.

Affectionately known as “Gib” or “Gibby”, he worked for Marsh Supermarkets as a truck driver for 25 ½ years, retiring in 1982. Gib had also worked for Marhoeffer Packing and Ag Best, Gaston. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Eaton and the Teamsters Local 135, Muncie.

His family includes three children: Joyce (David) Norrick, Muncie, Dennis (Pat) Hardesty, Bradenton FL, and Rev. Richard (Jeanne) Hardesty, Alexandria; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren. A special friend, Ilean True, Muncie, and his buddy, Fred “Bud” Maynard, Alexandria, also survive.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Ina Mae (Baker) Hardesty on April 22, 1999 and a brother, Merritt L. Hardesty, on March 16, 1998.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 28 in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, with Rev. Richard Hardesty, Gilbert’s son, officiating.

Friends may call at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Monday, July 27 and an hour prior to the service Tuesday.

Trevor Allen Hacker, 58

EATON, IN

TREVOR "ALLEN" HACKER, 58, stood in the presence of God on Thursday, May 14, 2009 after an extended illness.

Trevor was born on January 20, 1951 to Everett and Elizabeth (Ruble) Hacker. He lived in Clarksburg, Indiana, moved to Muncie and attended Muncie Central High School. Trevor married Connie Lash on October 16, 1971 in Muncie.

Mr. Hacker retired due to illness after many years of working in the home improvement business. He was self employed in the latter years but also worked for various companies, including A-1Home Improvement, LJ Stone and Suburban Aluminum. After retirement, he enjoyed wood working and shared his many talented projects with others.

He was a member of the Union Chapel Ministries.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Connie Hacker, sons, Joel Hacker, Muncie, Aron (wife, Alycia) Hacker, Eaton, daughter, Amanda Campbell, (companion, Mark Myers), Muncie, grandchildren, Callin Campbell and Anson Everett Hacker, his mother, Elizabeth Hacker, Albany, sisters, Edna Mae (husband, Carl) Hammond, Greensburg, Ethelene (husband, Gene) Ridge, Georgia, father-in-law, John Lash, mother-in-law, Nilah Lash, both of Muncie, brothers-in-law, Rick (wife, Anna) Lash, Muncie, Randall (companion, Ann) Lash, Springport, Dan (wife, Julie) Lash, Yorktown, David (wife, Melissa) Lash, Yorktown, as well as several nieces and nephews and his longtime pal, Bandit.

He was preceded in death by his father Everett and brother Delbert.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Union Chapel Ministries 4622 N. Martin Luther King Blvd, Muncie with Pastor Glen Greiner presiding. Burial will follow in Strong Cemetery, Albany.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday, May 18 at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at Union Chapel.

Leroy S. Gilland, 74

Leroy S. Gilland, 74, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009 in Eaton.

The son of Leroy W. and Naomi (Bell )Gilland, he was born January 13, 1935 in Delaware County.

He married Janice Holdren on April 18, 1953 in Jonesboro, Indiana. Her death occurred July 19, 1994. Leroy retired from New Venture Gear in January of 1991 and was a former member of the Elks Lodge in Dunkirk.

He is survived by his children: Michael A (Wanda) Gilland, Albany, Vickie (Leslie) Green, Gaston, Valerie (Michael) Dalton, Muncie, Shirley (Brian) Kurtz, Gaston, Sheryl (Raymond) Grant, Eaton, Mark Gilland, Eaton, and Douglas Gilland, Royerton, 2 sisters, Mary Lou Osborne, Anderson, and June Milton, Portland, 21 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Janice, he was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Quentin Goetz.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 14 in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Cemetery.

Phillip Max Carmin, 84

KENDALLVILLE, IN

PHILLIP MAX CARMIN, 84, former Muncie resident, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009 in Kendallville.

The son of Kit and Hazel (Kirkpatrick) Carmin, he was born August 13, 1924 in Gaston, Indiana. A 1942 graduate of Harrison Township High School, he married Becky McKinley on February 6, 1949 in Eaton.

Max was well known for his work at Smittie’s Menswear, where he worked for over 50 years. He was a 50 year member of the Matthews Lodge #650 F&AM and attended the Lake Missionary Church and the Heartland Fellowship Church.

Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Becky Carmin, one daughter, Jill Carmin, one granddaughter, Samantha Carmin, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kit and Hazel Carmin.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Monday, May 4, 2009 in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, IN, with Roland Roth presiding. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

Juaniece D. Love, 91

EATON, IN

JUANIECE D. LOVE, 91, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009 in the Waters of Yorktown.

She was born April 26, 1917, in Wells County, Indiana, the daughter of Alvie R. and Ethel (Derry) Morrison. A 1935 graduate of Chester Center High School, she attended Cosmetic College in Pontiac, Michigan. Juaniece married James Love on June 18, 1938 in Paris, Kentucky. She resided in Wells County, where she worked as a beautician in Warren. Juaniece moved to the Eaton area in 1950 and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Love was a member of the Eaton United Methodist Church. An avid doll collector, she was also an artist who had traveled the world with her husband. She developed many close friendships with those she met from her travels and interests.

Surviving are 4 daughters, Dian Love, Ypsilanti, Michigan, Melanie Love, Columbia City, Dr. Julie (husband, Gary) Alexander and Cindy Duvall, both of Eaton; 7 grandchildren, Scott Alexander (wife, Valerie), Stephanie (husband, Jeff) Welch, Dr. Franz Bauer, Ben Alexander (wife, Gabrielle), Megan Alexander, Emily Duvall and Ian Duvall; and 6 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband James, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Monnie Boykin; 3 brothers, Lee Stanley Morrison, John P. Morrison, and Ned D. Morrison.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on her 92nd birthday, from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M., Sunday, April 26, 2009, in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton.
Private burial services will be in Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Minnie L. Wilt, 93

MUNCIE - Minnie L. Wilt, 93, passed away Monday, February 2, 2009 at Muncie Health & Rehabilitation Center, Muncie.

The daughter of James Douglas and Fanny A. (Marcus) Terry, she was born January 8, 1916 in Sikeston, Missouri. Her family moved to the New Castle area when she was a child. She attended Cowan Schools. She married Keith Wilt on October 8, 1934 in Shirley, Indiana, he preceded her in death on November 4, 1975.

For most of her adult life, Minnie lived in the Eaton area, where she was a homemaker.

She attended the Eaton Church of the Nazarene, and the Assemblies of God, Hartford City.

Survivors include her daughter, Terri Wilt; three sons, Danny Wilt, Benny (Wilma) Wilt and Jerry (Verna) Wilt, all of Muncie; a brother, Billy Terry, Columbus, GA; as well as several grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Keith, she is preceded in death by a brother, James E. Terry; and a sister, Marie G. Whitworth.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2009 in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton.

Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Eaton.
