Carl K. Simmons

Carl Kenneth Simmons, 97, former President of the Delaware County Airport Authority, passed away, Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Golden Living Center.

Carl was born December 5, 1914 in Parke County, Indiana to Claud Elmer and Ethel (Myers) Simmons. He graduated from Wallace High School and married Allice Weaver on December 16, 1939.

Carl was the General Manager of the Delaware County Farm Bureau Co-Op for over 40 years, had also served as the President of the Delaware County Airport Authority, retiring after 20 years of service. He had flown his own planes for over 25 years, and along with his wife, they traveled to every state except Alaska.

Mr. Simmons was a member of Muncie Lodge #433 and was a 32nd Degree Mason, York Rite, Crawfordsville.

He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Allice Simmons, a daughter, Jane Barlow (Steve), of Royerton, a sister, Virginia Taylor, of Crawfordsville, two granddaughters, Betsy Weems (Marty), of Parke County, Lisa Pryor (Jackson), of Eaton, four great-grandchildren, Kenneth Pryor, Kathleen Pryor, Joe Weems, and Max Weems. Carl was preceded in death by a brother, Oral Simmons and two sisters, Lois Isaacs and Joyce Simmons.

Funeral Services will be held at Wolf Creek Church, Parke County at 2:00 pm. Friday, April 27, 2012 with Pastor Charles Jennings presiding. Burial will follow at Wolf Creek Cemetery.

Visitation for friends and family will be at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 26.
