Lillian Pursifull

MUNCIE, IN

Lillian Ellen Pursifull, 97, went to be with her Lord, Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Golden Living Center.

Lillian was born December 24, 1914 in Corydon, Indiana to George Wesley and Sannie Gertrude (Fetzer) Blake. She was a graduate of Eaton High School, class of 1933 and married Ernest Berl Pursifull on November 11, 1939 in Ft. Wayne. His death occurred December 5, 1982.

Mrs. Pursifull was a homemaker and attended the Eaton First Church of God for many years. She was a member of the Home Ec. Club at her church and formerly involved in the Missionary Society of Church.

She is survived by her loving children: Larry D. Pursifull (Jean) of Muncie, Barbara Poe (David) of Yorktown, and Alice McIntire (Richard) of Muncie; five grandchildren: Dennis Poe (Lara), Alan Poe, Lori Poe, Veretta Schnackenberg (Randal), and Brad McIntire; three great-grandchildren: Alex Poe, Kyle Schnackenberg, and Blake Schnackenberg..

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Herschel Elmer Blake.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the Eaton First Church of God, 700 E. Harris St. Eaton, with Pastor Andy Denniston presiding. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Visitation for friends and family will be on Monday, January 30, 2012 from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Eaton First Church of God or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Belinda J. Abshire

Shideler, IN

Belinda “Lin” J. (Woolum) Abshire, 47, passed away, Monday, January 23, 2012 at IU Ball Memorial Hospital.

Lin was born on May 26, 1964 in Muncie, Indiana to James and Wave (Taulbee) Woolum. Lin was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Eaton where she was a member since 1973. She was a 1982 graduate of Delta High School, and attended Ivy Tech where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Office Administration. Lin was currently studying business and history at Ball State University.

On December 24, 2009 she married John Abshire in Muncie. Together they attended church at McCormick View Chapel.

Lin was an 8 time cancer survivor, worked for Advantage Home Health Care and enjoyed cooking and making blankets. She was also a member of the Gamma Iota Epsilon sorority at Ivy Tech.

She is survived by her husband, John Abshire, a daughter, Alysha Rhodes, two sons, Dakota Abshire and Trenton Abshire, her father, James Woolum, a sister Coetta Lambert (Tony), a brother, John Woolum, and her mother in law, Nancy Abshire.

Lin was preceded in death by her mother Wave Woolum.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, with Pastor Bob York presiding. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Visitation for friends and family will be on Friday, January 27, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Nancy Cunningham

Nancy Cunningham

Nancy Cunningham passed away at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2012 at her home in Camby, Indiana with her daughter by her side.

She was born August 26, 1941 in Indianapolis to Perry L. and Nora M. Bixler and resided both in the Eaton, Muncie, Yorktown area and in Ft. Myers, Florida.

Nancy graduated from Eaton High School in 1959. She worked for Applegate Advertising Agency and Ball Corporation for many years before moving to southwest Florida where she started her own graphic arts business, type etc.

Survivors include her son, Steve (Eloise) Michaels, Anderson, daughter Jana (David) Chirico, Mooresville; one sister, Janna (Fred) Hollowell, Eaton; four grandsons: D.J. and Marc Chirico, Mooresville, and Seth and Austin Michaels, Anderson; three nieces and several great nieces and nephews.

Nancy was an avid reader and lexiconist. She had an artists’ love of nature but mainly loved spending time with her grandsons and family.

Nancy continued to give beyond the end of her life, by donating her body to the IU School of Medicine for Teaching and Research.

A dinner will be held for family and friends on Sunday, January 29 at In Christ Community Church, 9701 N. CR 450 W, Muncie at 2:00 p.m.

Helen F. Hardesty

EATON, IN

Helen F. Hardesty, 86, passed away, Sunday, January 8, 2012 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

She was born on September 4, 1925 in Muncie to George and Stella (May) Thomas. Helen was a graduate of Muncie Central High School, class of 1943. On January 25, 1945, she married Merritt L. Hardesty in Muncie.

Helen worked for Kerr Glass and was a long-time member of the Eaton First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Christian Women’s Fellowship. For the past 7 years, Helen enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Alpha Center in Muncie.

She is survived by her children: Barbara Cavanaugh, Peggy Davis (Larry), and George Hardesty (Cindy), a brother, Mark Thomas (Myrtle, “Punk”), a sister, Viola Davis (Russell), a sister-in-law, Mary Katherine Thomas, 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Merritt L. Hardesty in 1998, a brother, Charles “Bud” Thomas, a sister, Katherine Zaft and her husband Rollin, and a son-in-law, Andrew Cavanaugh.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am. Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, with Rev. Penny Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

Visitation for friends and family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, January, 11, from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 until 8:00 pm.
