Myrtle R. Walker


EATON, IN

Myrtle R. Walker, 85, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Bethel Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center, Muncie.

Myrtle was born on September 22, 1929 to Orval and Gladys (Bybee) Wilson.  She graduated from Muncie Central High School and married Samuel Walker.  Together they would raise four children.

Myrtle was a homemaker and was well known throughout the community for her beautiful flowers and garden.  She was a long time member of the Eaton Methodist Church and the Garden Club. 

She is survived by her children: James Walker (Suzy), Roger Walker (Lavina), Guy Walker (Kathleen) and Gladis Marie Stevens (Jim), one brother, Willie Wilson, three sisters: Melvie Barber (Bill), Dorothy Tolbert (Carl Eddie), and Helen Moody, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

While no immediate services are planned, a celebration of her life will take place at her church in Eaton during the Spring of 2015.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S Hartford St., Eaton.

Barbara J. Cavanaugh


EATON, IN

Barbara Jeanne (Hardesty) Cavanaugh, 67, passed peacefully in her home at 10:52 A.M. on Sunday, December 21, 2014
 
Barb was born in Muncie, Indiana on June 28, 1947. She graduated from Eaton Norseman in 1965. Barbara married Andrew H. Cavanaugh on July 1, 1965.

Mrs. Cavanaugh worked at Rock-Tenn for over 28 years until she retired. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and playing bingo, cards and dice.

She is survived by her two daughters, Kelly (Husband, Kelly) Dulworth, Eaton, and Tammy (Husband, Wayne Sr.) Pontius, Hartford City; one son, Kurt Cavanaugh (Companion, Sherry Clark), Eaton; eleven grandkids, Ginger Dulworth, Jenny Dulworth, Ryan Dulworth, Wayne Pontius Jr., Dillon Pontius, Abbey Pontius, Megan Pontius, Levi Hashman, Ashley Cavanaugh, Andrew Cavanaugh, and Ricki; three great-grandchilren, Courtney Dulworth, Josh Copper, and Bryson Pontius; one sister, Peggy (Husband, Larry) Davis, and one brother, George (Wife, Cindy) Hardesty, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She attended the First Christian Church in Eaton. She leaves lasting memories with her greatest friends, Lee Simmons, Karen Petty, and “just the neighbor”, Tracey Hashman.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Merritt and Helen Hardesty, and her husband, Andrew Cavanaugh.

Funeral services will be today, December 23, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, with Rev. Penny Brown presiding. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Muncie.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 A.M. to the start of the service at the funeral home.

Bennie C. Eldridge


HARTFORD CITY, IN

Bennie C. Eldridge, 72, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Jerry W. Withers


Eaton, IN

Jerry W. Withers, 62, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Jerry was born on January 31, 1952 to Daniel and Stella (Dick) Withers in Hartford City. He attended school at Eaton and Delta High Schools.

He married Doris Teague on July 31, 1971 in Yorktown, Indiana.

Jerry had a great love of cars. He worked as a mechanic at Hartford Concrete, Robinson’s and own his own business, Jerry’s Garage.

Survivors include his wife, Doris of 43 years, two children, Troy (Angie) Withers, and Traci Maddy (fiancĂ©, Don Chambers), two brothers, Richard (Barbara) Withers, and Johnny (Cathy) Withers, two sisters, Mary (Glen) Elam, and Linda Mason, a brother-in-law, Jimmy Hardin, four grandchildren, Kevin and Cory Maddy, and Kerissa and Kody Withers, as well as several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Stella Withers, a sister, Carolyn “Sue” Hardin and a son-in-law, Bub Maddy

A gathering for family and friends will be from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Eaton Church of God, Family Life Center, 700 E. Harris St., Eaton.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton.
