Marjorie Penrod, 95, passed away, Friday, July 26, 2013 at
Albany Health Care and Rehabilitation in Albany.
Marjorie was born in Eaton on August 31, 1917 to John “Ray”
and Vashti Carmichael. She graduated
from Eaton High School and married Stephen Penrod. Together they had two children, Edward and
Robert.
Marjorie served as the Eaton Town Clerk from 1976 to 1979
and worked for the Democrat Party at elections.
She was twice awarded by the Governor of Indiana for the many hours she
spent volunteering. Marjorie was very
active at the Eaton First Church of God, where she served as a Sunday school
teacher.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Greg Penrod, Janet
White, Tony Penrod, John Penrod, Peggy Stonger, Steve Penrod, and Patrick
Penrod, 19 great-grandchildren, and 31, great-great-grandchildren, and one
great-great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband Stephen, she was
preceded in death by her two sons: Edward Penrod and Robert Penrod, four
brothers: Gerald L. Carmichael, Malcolm K. Carmichael, Ray M. (Bud) Carmichael,
and Sgt. Dale M. Carmichael, who was lost at the Bay of Bengal.
A Graveside Service will be held at Union Cemetery, 16301 N.
State Road 3, Eaton, on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 1:00 P.M.
