Dick Holdren


EATON, IN
Dick Holdren, 88, passed away Saturday morning, October 20, 2012 at Morrison Woods, Muncie.

Dick was born on November 6, 1923 in Eaton to Dick Sr., and Theodotta (Westenbarger) Holdren.  He graduated from Eaton High School in 1941 and served his country in the Army during World War II.  Dick married the love of his life, Jean Harshman on January 16, 1943 in Eaton. They celebrated 60 years together.  She preceded him in death on November 18, 2004.
Mr. Holdren worked for Warner Gear for over 42 1/2 years, retiring in 1986.  He was the original member #1 of the Lakeview Country Club in Eaton.

He is survived by his two sons: Bruce (Shelia) Holdren, of Eaton, and Alan (Chris) Holdren, Muncie; one daughter, Janet (Ralph) Trowbridge, Muncie. Five grandchildren: Stephenie (Mark) Long, Kyle (Lindy) Holdren, Perry (Alissa) Trowbridge, Katie Holdren, and Maddie Holdren; six great-grandchildren: Abigail Long, Atalie Long, Alivia Long, Lance Holdren, Emilee Holdren, and Evan Trowbridge. Three sisters: Donna (Jay) Marley, Patty (Pat) Obryant, and Mary Dinn; two sisters-in-law, Darlene Holdren, and Patty Jean Holdren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Jimmy (Dick’s twin), infant twins Cara and Sara, Benny, and Pete Holdren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 10:00 am, at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Pastor Scott Holley.  Burial with Military Rites by the Delaware County Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Union Cemetery, Eaton.
Visitation for friends and family will be on Wednesday, October 24, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
