Elsie L. Welsch, 83

Shideler, IN

Elsie L. Welsch, 83, passed away, Friday, June 24, 2011 in Anderson.

Elsie was born on April 2, 1928 in Muncie, to Clarence and Isola (Crow) Turner. She graduated from Eaton High School, class of 1946 and later attended Ivy Tech. On July 27, 1946 she married William “Bill” Welsch in Muncie.

Elsie worked for several local businesses over the years including: Bruner’s Restaurant, the Collegian Stores, and Petro Plus. She attended the Eaton First Christian Church and was well known for her homemade candy.

Elsie is survived by her two sons: James Welsch (Susan), Pittsburgh, PA, and John Welsch (Linda), Anderson, her grandchildren: Christine Bridge, Daniel Welsch, Michael Wood, Julie Martin, and Randi Yoho, great-grandchildren: Morgan Welsch, Connor Welsch, Hannah Carpenter, Beth Carpenter, Evan Yoho, and Erica Yoho, two sisters, Clara Mossburg and Mary Newton, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Clarence and Isola Turner, she was preceded in death by her husband Bill Welsch, three brothers: Arthur Turner, Eugene Turner, and Clifford Turner, and a sister, Frances Tayler.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am., Wednesday, June 29 in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Rev. Penny Brown presiding. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 28, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm., and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Jacob "Jake" Monroe, 18

EATON, IN

Jacob “Jake” Monroe, 18, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, June, 22, 2011 from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

Jake was born on November 29, 1992 to Tony and Beth (Walker) Monroe. He recently graduated from Delta High School, class of 2011.

For many years, Jake helped his father roofing houses. He was a varsity football player at Delta and loved sports, hunting, fishing and hanging out with his friends.

He is survived by his loving parents, Tony and Beth Monroe, two brothers, Andrew Monroe and Greg Smith, paternal grandparents: Tony and Barbara Monroe, and Earl and Janet Reynolds; maternal grandparents, Joe and Kay Walker, a niece Brylee Smith, as well as several uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm. Monday, June 27, 2011 at Delta High School Auditorium with Rev. Marion Donathan presiding. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Visitation will be at Delta High School from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Sunday, June 26 and one hour prior to services Monday.

The Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, is handling arrangements.

Janet Delight Roberts Lewis, 81

EATON, IN

Janet Delight Roberts Lewis: September 8, 1929 - June 14, 2011.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents Freda Tait Roberts and Ralph Waldo Roberts. Janet was born in Eaton, Indiana on the family farm where she grew up. She spent her entire life in Eaton. Janet graduated from Eaton High School in 1947. She married Robert Z. Lewis on January 15, 1948. They were married for 63 years. Janet was a homemaker while her children were young. Later she was employed by several area establishments including The Tin Lizzy, The Dairy Dreams of Muncie and Albany, Sonny’s in Eaton, and Bella Avanti in Muncie. She attended the Eaton United Methodist Church.

She was a 52 year member of the Order of The Eastern Star and The American Legion Auxiliary, Eaton chapters. In recent years she had volunteered many hours at the Veterans’ Hospital Marion, the gift shop at IU-Ball Memorial Hospital, the Meow Mart and participated in activities for her church. She attended various patriotic celebrations and collected patriotic items of all kinds and was a loyal volunteer on most election days. She also enjoyed her Red Hat group.

Janet knew no strangers. Everyone she met became a friend. She considered every child she met her own. Janet loved to support an underdog of any kind.

She is survived by her husband Robert Zane Lewis, her children: Kathy Bartlett (Gary), Muncie, Peggy Constant (Jay), Selma, Robert W. Lewis (Anna), Alexandria, and Theodore J. Lewis (Beth), Carmel.

She is also survived by her brothers Howard Roberts, Plant City, Florida and Ralph Edward Roberts, Eaton. There are also several nieces and nephews.

Her Grandchildren: Darcy Needler, Allison Inman (Chris), Whitney Constant, Tyler Constant, Robert C. Lewis, Catherine Lewis, Teddy Lewis, Andrew Lewis and step-granddaughter, Melody Constant.

Great-Grandchildren: Anthony Needler, Kayla Needler, Brandon Phillips, Taylor Inman, and step-great grandchildren Jaylynn and Katelin Gann.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm. Friday, June 17, 2011 at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to The Wounded Warriors Project, P.O.
