Jayne A. Page, 92

Jayne (Atkinson) Page, 92, of Indianapolis died November 11, 2010. Jayne was born and grew up in Eaton, IN, graduating from Eaton High School. Later she studied bookkeeping and chose that career after her children were grown.

Fascinated by nature, Jayne delighted in gardening and bird watching. Her favorite was the bluebird, and that became her symbol. It suited her positive outlook on life. She also drew enrichment and pleasure from her associations with Greenwood Christian Women’s Prayer Group, Psi Iota Xi, and Pi Phi Mothers’ Club.

Jayne was preceded in death by her husband, Burton L. Page, and her three siblings: Madelyn Johnson, Manford Atkinson, and Docia Atkinson. She is survived by her three children: Bonnie Page MacFadyen of Maryland, Dr. Gary Page of Bloomington, and Dixie Page Herrington of Pennsylvania, along with seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 20, 2010 in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford Street, Eaton. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until services on Saturday. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in Eaton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Greenwood Christian Church, 2045 Averitt Rd., Greenwood, IN 46143.

Freda Kay Harker, 58

Muncie, IN

Freda Kay Harker, 58, life resident of the Muncie area, passed away, Sunday, October 31, 2010 at her home.

The daughter of Isaac and Lillian (Williamson) Reading, she was born May 17, 1952 in Muncie. She was a graduate of Yorktown High School and married Melvin B. Harker on August 16, 1975 in Muncie.

A homemaker, and also Daisy’s Nan, Freda was a member of River of Life Church. She was very involved in the prison ministry for many years. Freda was known as “Nan” by over twenty-five children that she cared for over the years.

Surviving are her husband, Melvin B. Harker, Muncie, son, James Harker (wife, Krystena), Eaton, daughter, Rachel Atz (husband, Jacob), Bloomington, three sisters: Lily Rose York, Cammack, Crystal Lipscomb (husband, Bob), Cammack, and Hilda Wagoner (husband, Theo), Muncie, mother-in-law, Rose Tafflinger (husband, Larry), Muncie, father-in-law, Melvin Harker, Sr. (wife, Connie), Florida, two grandchildren, Mackenzie and Daisy, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Floyd, John, and Fred Reading and two sisters, Vera Beal and Mary Lou Thornburgh.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Union Cemetery, Eaton, with Pastor John Martin presiding.
