Teddy G. Smith


Muncie, IN

Teddy G. Smith, 75, passed away on March 26, 2016 at Golden Living Center in Muncie.

He was born in Burkesville, Kentucky on May 19, 1940 to Elvin Ray and Lela (Witham) Smith.  He attend Cumberland County High School and moved to Muncie, Indiana in the 1960s.

Teddy retired from Feeny Manufacturing in Muncie.  He loved to fish and also enjoyed working in the yard.

He is survived by his children: Michael Ray Smith, of Surprise, Arizona, Kelly Lee Smith of San Diego, California, granddaughters, Jamie Smith (Andy),  and Taylor Hatch and serval nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Teddy was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Johnson and her husband, Robert, and his brother, Herman Smith.

Visitation for family and friends will be at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held in Kentucky at Ballou and Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Burkesville, KY, on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 10:00 am.  Visitation prior to services will start at 9:00 am.  Burial will follow the services at Myers Ridge Cemetery.

Bonnie Grider Gayheart


Eaton, IN
Bonnie Grider Gayheart, 86, passed away on March 7, 2016 at Golden Living Center in Muncie.
She was born on June 3, 1929 in Burkesville, Kentucky and graduated from Cumberland County High School. 
She married Henry Grider after high school and together they would have three sons.  Henry and Bonnie owned and operated the pool hall and grocery in Eaton for several years.. 
Bonnie attended the Eaton Church of God since 1979 and could always be found working at Eaton Video with her son David.
Following Henry’s death in 1970, she married Leroy Gayheart on August 15, 1975 in Eaton.
Bonnie is survived by her children: David Grider, Rick Grider (wife, Laura), Gary Grider (wife, Leigh Ann), Michael Gayheart (wife, Ann), Rebecca Gayheart, Jeff Gayheart (wife, Lori), and Rita Koger (husband, John), her sister, Mildred Morris (husband, Dick), son-in-law, Joe Cox, special niece, Linda Rench (husband, Chuck), fifteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews, her brother-in-law, Evan Grider (wife, Mary), and three sisters-in-law, Mary Cox (husband, John), Doris Humphrey, and Margaret Moore.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her first husband Henry Grider, her second husband, Leroy Gayheart,  a daughter, Jayne Cox, two sisters, Bessie Smith and Kate Lackey, and two grandchildren, Amy Gayheart-Stefanski and Adam Nickerson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, March 14, 2016 at the Eaton Church of God, 700 E. Harris St., Eaton with Pastor Andy Denniston officiating.  Burial will follow at the Eaton Union Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 3:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M., Monday, at the church.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.

Arlene Kay McClellan


EATON, IN

Arlene Kay McClellan, 73, passed away on March 2, 2016 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Kay was born on the 4th of July, 1942 in Hartford City to Melvin and Amelia (Dick) Smith.  She graduated from Eaton High School class of 1960.  After graduating, Kay served her country in the Army Medical Corps. 

On February 25, 1972, she married Clayton “Dusty” McClellan in Eaton.  Together they would have two daughters, Lisa and Patti.

Kay worked for Blackford County Hospital for several years as a ward clerk.  She finished her career in health care at Medical Consultants.  She was a long-time member of the Eaton First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ and the Amvets Post 12 in Royerton.

Kay is survived by her daughters, Lisa Thomas, and Patti Enyeart (husband, Ray), her brother, Glen Smith (wife, Susan), five grandchildren: Emilee Thomas, Shelbi Thomas, Tristen Enyeart, Taylor Enyeart, and Clayton Daniel Enyeart, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton “Dusty” McCl ellan and a sister Carolyn Jean Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, March 7, 2016 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Pastor Steve DeLisle presiding.  Burial with Military Rites by the Delaware County Veterans Honor Guards, will follow at Union Cemetery in Eaton.

Visitation for friends and family will be on Monday from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.

Kathleen Cates McClain


EATON, IN

Kathleen Cates McClain, 90, passed away, on February 29, 2016 at Morrison Woods in Muncie.

Kathleen was born on April 25, 1925 in Delaware County to Ernest and Ruth (Stephenson) Justice.  She graduated from Harrison Township School in 1943 and married Hobart Cates on March 8, 1946.   Together they would raise their four children on the family farm.  Hobart passed away on February 6, 1974. 

On April 15, 1978, Kathleen married George McClain. 

Kathleen was a member of Dunkirk Mount Tabor Methodist Church, where she served in several capacities.   She loved gardening, sewing and baking.

Kathleen is survived by her children: Elaine Arnold (John Nuckols), Hartford City, Helen Schache, Tampa, FL, Louise Schnepf (husband, Dave), Albany, Keith Cates of Muncie, Marty McClain (wife, Teresa), Muncie, Doug McClain (wife, Tina), Geneva, IL, Scott McClain (wife, Amy), Albany, Mark Tobias (wife, Janice) of Zanesville, a sister, Ona Frances Hussey of Ann Arbor, MI, twelve grandchildren: Johnna Schache  (Roger Davenport) Stacey Rupp (husband, Jim), Trista Kikendall (husband, Ryan), Dawn Arnold, Cami Reynolds (husband, Corey), LeShea Cates-Cullison (Kathy), Tyler VanMeter, Chase McClain, Noah Tobias, Anne Mei McClain, Evan McClain, and Eleanor McClain, her great-grandchildren: Brayton Myrick, Ashlyn Reynolds, Olivia Smith, Owen Rupp, Keeleigh Kikendall, Quentin Smith, Kade Kikendall, Zac Reynolds, Mallory Rupp, and Karter Kikendall, extended family member, Coy Phillips, of Eaton, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her first husband Hobart, Kathleen was preceded in death by her second husband, George McClain in 1989 and a brother, Ivan Justice.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on March 5, 2016 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Pastor Randy Davis officiating. Private burial will be made at Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday from 2:00 until 3:00 pm.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Dunkirk Mount Tabor Methodist Church, 216 W. Pleasant St., Dunkirk, IN 47336 or the donor’s charity of choice.
