Sharon Sue Morris


EATON, IN

Sharon Sue Morris, 66, went to be with the Lord, with her family by her side,  Thursday, June 26, 2014, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital.

Sharon was born on July 16, 1947 in Muncie to Cecil and Mary Jane (McKinley) Tharp.  She was a graduate of Eaton High School, class of 1965 and went on to study computers at Ivy Tech.

On December 11, 1965, in Eaton, she married Richard Morris and together they would have two sons.  Sharon worked for Delaware Community Schools as a Secretary at Eaton Elementary, retiring after 26 years of employment.  She attended the Eaton First Church of God and served on several committees.

She enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking, and taking walks with her dog Bridget.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Richard Morris, two sons; Jim Morris (Tonya), and Duane Morris (Melanie), her mother, Mary Jane Tharp, two brothers; Edwin Tharp (Kyle), Lynden Tharp (Linnea), two sisters; Cynthia Marquell (Richard), Theresa Bundy (Mike), six grandchildren: Jason Morris, Marissa Morris, Michael Morris, Jacob Morris, Benjamin Morris and Olivia Morris, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Tharp.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. July 1, 2014 at the Eaton First Church of God, 700 E. Harris St., Eaton, with Pastor Andy Denniston and Pastor Jason Hollar presiding.  Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

Visitation for family and friends will be at the church on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. and one hour prior to services Tuesday.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Eaton First Church of God or St. Vincent Regional Cancer Center, 2020 Meridian St. Suite 230, Anderson, IN 46016.

Henry Douglas Marcum


HARTFORD CITY, IN

Henry Douglas Marcum, 71, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Doug was born on November 2, 1942 to Henry Clay and Flora May (Winchester) Marcum in Spann Hill, Kentucky .

He worked as a mechanic, doing small engine repair at Rural King and worked at Littler Die Cast for 23 years prior. Doug enjoyed attending car shows and belonged to the Indiana Bluegrass Association and also assisted Union Cemetery Association in Eaton with burials and groundskeeping.

Survivors include his son, Douglas Patrick (Linnie) Marcum of Hartford City, grandchildren, Cassidy Dawn Marcum and Brittany Ann Marcum, great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Riddle, Caden Marcum, and Kyla Marcum, brother, Ronnie (Yvonne) Marcum of Cedar Hill, TN, sisters, Christine Williams of Dunkirk, Mary Hester Marcum of Monticello, KY and Marcella (John) Hudson of Hartford City as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Doug is preceded into eternal rest by his wife of twenty-three years, Marie O. (Conatser)Marcum, brother Paul and a sister, Betty Bowden.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2014 in the Eaton First Baptist Church, 510 E. Columbia St., in Eaton with Pastor Mark Wilkerson presiding.  Burial will follow services at Union Cemetery of Eaton.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday at the church.

Wilma Jean Mickler


EATON, IN

Wilma Jean Mickler, 87, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

She was born on August 7, 1926 to Willie and Delia (Miller) Scaggs in Muncie, Indiana.  She attended Eaton High School and married William E. Mickler Sr., on August 4, 1945 in Muncie.

Jean was a homemaker, a member of the Eaton First Christian Church, where she served as Elder Emeritus,  American Legion Auxiliary, Delaware County Home EC Clubs for over 61 years, Church Women United, Christian Women’s Fellowship, and a former member of Parents Without Partners.  Jean served in numerous offices within those organizations.

Survivors include five children,  Bonnie Jo “BJ” Glenn of Eaton, William Jr. (Lucy) Mickler of Dunkirk, Darlene (Steve) Powell of Hawaii, Quinton Jay (Cathy) Mickler of Muncie, and John H.A. (Rhesa) Mickler of Carmel, nine grandchildren: Scott Miller, Mick Miller, Alex Mickler, Zack Mickler, Patrick Powell, Ashley Powell, Tony Brown, Brittany Mickler, and Jennifer Mickler;  10 great- grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, her  brother, Larry Leon (Donna) Scaggs, sister, Patricia Ann (Darrell) Terhune, sister-in-law, Pat Scaggs, as well as several loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William, and brothers, James Edsel Scaggs, Lloyd Thomas Scaggs, Jerry Raymond Scaggs, and Richard Landon Scaggs.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M.  on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Rev. Penny Brown  officiating.   A private burial will be held at the Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 P.M to  4:00 P.M. on  Monday, June 16, 2014, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in her name to the American Heart Association.

Grace Ann Blair


MUNCIE, IN

Grace Ann Blair, 74, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday, June 9, 2014 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Grace was born on January 24, 1940 in Montezuma, Indiana to Harold and Maxine (Templeton) McMillian. She graduated from Hartford City High School in 1958.

She married Ned A. Blair on November 27, 1960 in Hartford City.  Together they would raise their three daughters.

Grace was a homemaker ,  a member of the Eaton United Methodist Church, Church Women United, the church choir, Bunko Club, a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Preceptor Beta Pi, for over 50 years, and was a long time member of the Royerton Home EC Club.

Grace especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren at the family campground and attending the class of 58 luncheons.

Survivors include three daughters, Nena Pearson (Gilbert Smith), Loretta  Kalka (Joe), and Ann Warfel (John), a brother, Harry Hummer (Kay) , one sister, Linda Hummer, eight grandchildren, Andre Pearson (Chrystal), Jessica Pearson, Rodney Pearson, Brandon Warfel, Cory Warfel, Amanda Campbell (Johnny Stinnet),  Christopher Campbell, and Curtis Campbell (Amanda), 14 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold McMillian and Maxine Hummer,  her husband, Ned Blair, and two sisters, Sandra Webber and Rose Mack.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 10:00 A.M.  at the Eaton United Methodist Church, 215 S. Elm St., Eaton, with Pastor Anna Shanks and Pastor Keith Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Muncie.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church .

Memorials may be made in her name to the Eaton United  Methodist Church.

Donna M. Tharp


EATON, IN

Donna M. Tharp, 89, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014.

Donna was born on January 18, 1925 to Herbert and Mary (Reitenour) Corle.  She graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1942 and attended Ball State University.

Donna married Francis R. Tharp on June 24, 1944 in Eaton, Indiana.

She worked at Merchants Trust Bank in Eaton, and was the office manager at Miss-Eaton Furniture for over 50 years.

Donna was devoted to her family, loved music and the symphony that she regularly attended.

She was a member of the Eaton First Christian Church where she was the organist for 68 years, the American Guild of Organists, as well as the Psi Iota Xi Sorority.

Survivors include a daughter, Romanelle (Richard) Marine of Eaton, Granddaughter, Deanna (David) Nichols of Muncie, great-grandchildren, Matthew and Kaylee Nichols, a brother, Richard Corle of Boudette, MN, three sisters, Virginia Siggins of State College, PA, Jennie Corle (Edna Tosh) of Schererville, IN, and JoAnn (Albert “Bud”) Schosek of Sugar Grove, OH, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Francis, a brother, James Corle and a sister, Ruby Wagner.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Christian Church, 301 E. Harris St., Eaton, with Rev. David Avery officiating. Entombment will follow in Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Eaton First Christian Church, 301 E. Harris St., Eaton, or to an organization of the donor’s choice.
