Joyce E. Vance


 

EATON, IN

Joyce E. Vance, 83, passed away, Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Signature Health Care in Muncie.

The daughter of Doro thy Smith Marquell, Joyce was born on April 28, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana.   She graduated from Eaton High School, class of 1948. Joyce graduated from Indiana Business College and went on to work for Owens Illinois Glass Company as a secretary. 

On June 24, 1949 she married Jerry Vance in Shideler.   They spent the next 64 years of marriage raising their five children and doing many activities together including restoring Model-A cars.  Both Jerry and Joyce were members of the Model-A Restorers Club.

Joyce worked for Waldo Greenhouse for 29 years and was also a member of the Home Ec Club.  She especially loved oil painting.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jerry Vance, her children: Dave Vance, Jay Vance, Mark Vance (Sheryl), Sally Anne Lewis, and Brian Vance (Brenda), two sisters, Mary Cuifo (Don) and Alice Feezle, as well as 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, with Rev. Eldon Morehouse officiating.   Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory.

Visitation for friends and family will be on Sunday, December 1, 2013 from 2:00 until 6:00 pm and from 9:00 until 10:00 am, Monday at the funeral home.

 Memorials may be made in her name to the Little Red Door Cancer Services of Delaware County, 2311 W. Jackson St., Muncie 47303.

Charles J. Welder


EATON, IN

Charles J. Welder, 80, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at his home.

He was born on March 9, 1933 in Tipton, Indiana to Charles and Bonnie (Porter) Welder.  Charles graduated from Royerton High School, class of 1951 and went on to serve his country in the Army during the Korean War.

Charles worked for Marsh Warehouse in Yorktown for 41 years. On June 26, 1975 he married M. Darlene Morrow. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 135, American Legion, and a lifetime member of the Chanticleer Club.  Charles enjoyed camping fishing, and going to the auto races at the Anderson and Winchester Speedways.  His favorite race driver was Dennis Miles.

Charles is survived by his wife of 38 years, M. Darlene (Morrow) Welder, three sons: Mike, Larry and Curtis, all of Muncie, one daughter, Glenna Welder, Muncie, three step-daughters: Christine May, Muncie, Patricia Hoover Daleville, and Michelle Pryor (husband, Chuck), Daleville,  seven grandchildren, one great-grandson as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.    

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bonnie (Porter) Welder, two brothers, Ed Welder, Don Welder and a step-grandson, Kaleb Glaser-Hoover.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm. on Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Rev. Phil Abrams officiating.  Burial with Military Rites by the Delaware County Veterans Honor Guard will follow the service at Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Visitation for friends and family will be on Friday, November 8, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

The family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Songer and Ball Memorial Hospice for the excellent care given to Charles and his family.

Rev. Howard Pearson


MUNCIE, IN

Rev. Howard G. Pearson, 92, died peacefully at Westminster Village and has gone home to be with his Lord and Savior.

Rev. Pearson was born on August 17, 1921 in Blackford County. He was the son of Harry C. and Luria (Baker) Pearson and a 1939 graduate of Roll High School.

He was a 1951 graduate of Taylor University and continued his service to God, attending Asbury Seminary in Kentucky and the United Methodist Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.

On June 13, 1948 he married Relda Needler in Hartford City.

His ministry called him to serve as pastor of the E.U.B. Church in Kingman, Indiana, the Trinity E.U.B. Church in Portland, Indiana and the Swayzee Street United Methodist Church in Marion, Indiana. He retired after 32 years of service, 26 of them in Marion.

Rev. Pearson was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and was adored by his family and friends. He was a faithful and involved member of Union Chapel Ministries.  In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Relda; a son, Tim (Jane) Pearson, of Grafton, Ohio, a daughter, Karen (Darrell) Hofer, of Muncie, a sister, Bernice Tudor, of Zionsville, a grandson, Erik Hofer, of Indianapolis, a step-granddaughter, and three step-great-grandchildren, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Cecil and Bernal.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 1:30 P.M. at Union Chapel Ministries, 4622 N. Broadway in Muncie, with Pastor Gregg Parris presiding. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Chapel Ministries or to World Vision International.

Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, Eaton, is handling arrangements.
