Julius "Jule" Martin Hendricks, 94

EATON, IN

Julius “Jule” Martin Hendricks, 94, passed away, Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

The son of Theodore and Elizabeth (Koening) Hendricks, he was born on August 7, 1917 in Adams County, Indiana. Julius attended Union City High School and Married Mary Zigler on November 29, 1934 in Union City.

Mr. Hendricks owned and operated Hendricks Railroad Salvage for many years. He lived in the Eaton area for over 70 years and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hartford City.

He is survived by one son, James Hendricks, Eaton grandchildren: Annemarie Paul (Dennis Horan), Debra Rolli (Tony), Rhonda Meinhardt (Mike), Jeff Hendricks (Kimberly), Ron Hendricks (Sharlyne), and Sherri Drewett (David), great-grandchildren: Blake Stuffel (Jayson), Aleisha Fetters, Kris Green, Kyle Green, Derek Hendricks, Dyer Hendricks, Paige Drewett, Max Drewett, Ben Drewett, and Thomas Drewett.

Julius was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hendricks, a daughter Caroline Jean Hendricks, brothers, Walter, Frederick, John, Theodore, Clyde, and Harvey, and his sisters, Lola Chenowith, Ida Layman, and Ada Williams.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon, Friday, September 24, 2011 at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Father Dave Newton presiding. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery , Eaton.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until services, Friday at the funeral home.

Dwight Brooks, 59

Hartford City, IN

Dwight Brooks, 59, passed away, Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Dwight was born on December 18, 1951 in Kenova, West Virginia to Orval and Mary Agnes (Wight) Brooks. When he was five years old his family moved to Indiana. Dwight graduated from Blackford High School in 1970 and then attended Ashland Community College. He married Sharon Younts on February 14, 1973 in Eaton.

Mr. Brooks worked for BorgWarner for 13 years and was a member of the Warner Gear Union. He had a deep love of music and played in several local bands. He loved guitar, the banjo and mandolin. He was an avid Colts fan and also enjoyed NASCAR and NHRA.

He is survived by his loving wife Sharon Brooks, two daughters Lynn Marie Price (David), and Tracey (Caylor) Brooks (Jeremy Murphy), his mother, Mary Agnes Brooks, one brother, Gregory Brooks, and four grandchildren, Brandon, Marcus, Elizabeth, and Abigail.

Dwight was preceded in death by two sons, Bryan Brooks and Justin Brooks and his father, Orval Brooks.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Pastor Keith Williams presiding. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Tuesday, September 20 and after 12 Noon prior to services Wednesday.

Rosemary Smoot, 84





EATON, IN

Rosemary Smoot, departed this life surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 2, 2011 in Eaton.

She was born on January 16, 1927 in Delaware County to Ernest and Alma (Moore) Hollowell. Rosemary graduated from Eaton High School, class of 1945 and married Richard (Gene) Smoot on February 16, 1946 in Eaton.

Rosemary was homemaker and very active in her community. She was a member of the 42nd Home Ec Club, Wednesday Afternoon Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and Psi Iota Xi Sorority. She was also a member of the Eaton United Methodist Church and the Apache Wells Community Church in Mesa, Arizona.

For the past 40 years, Rosemary spent her winters in Arizona and summers at home in Eaton. She leaves behind many special friends in both places.

She is survived by her son, Steve Smoot (wife, Sharen), Eaton, two brothers, Ernest Hollowell (wife, Vivian), Dunkirk, and Fred Hollowell (wife, Janna), Eaton, two grandchildren, Stefanie Pitman (husband, David), Muncie, and Shelbie Smoot, Muncie, two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Peyton Licht, several nieces and nephews, a brother-in-law, and several sisters-in-law.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Alma and her husband Gene Smoot,

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Eaton United Methodist Church, 219 E. South St., Eaton with Pastor Keith Williams presiding. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 6, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

The family would like to thank IU Ball Memorial Hospice and their wonderful nurses and also Rosemary’s special care givers, Nancy Pitman and Sherry Johnson.
