John F. Bailey, 91

EATON, IN

JOHN F. BAILEY, 91, life resident of Delaware County, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Albany Health Care.

He was born on April 26, 1920 in Delaware County to John and Foster (Sackett) Bailey. John married Dorothy Matchett on July 20, 1940 in Muncie. He served his country in the Army during WWII, in the Pacific Theatre.

John worked for Riggin’s Dairy for over 30 years and was a member of the Eaton American Legion Post #90.

He is survived by two sons: Larry Bailey (wife, Jo), of Eaton, and John Bailey, of Eaton, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 6 step-great grandchildren and 2 step great-great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild due in July.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, parents, John and Foster Bailey, a son, Randy Bailey, two brothers, Jim Bailey and Thurman Bailey, and one sister, Ellen Rodgers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, with Rev. Earlene Lamperd and Rev. Scott Lamperd presiding. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory.

Friends may call on at the funeral home on Monday, May 30, from 1:00-4:00 and one hour prior to services Tuesday.

LAURA M. BRIGHTON

MUNCIE, INDIANA

Laura M. Brighton, 90, died Saturday morning, May 14, 2011 at The Woodlands of Muncie.

She was born February 7, 1921 in Rising Sun, Indiana, the daughter of Lillard and Bertha (Green) Green and attended Butlerville High School.

A resident of Eaton from 1962 to 2003, she had also resided in Dunkirk and retired from Kerr Glass in 1982 after 33 years of employment.

Laura was a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Muncie, and was active in Gethsemane’s 55 Alive and Senior Singles Groups.

She is survived by two children: Eugene (Jana) Brighton, Muncie and Kay Parker, Brownwood, Texas; grandchildren, Christopher (Katie) Brighton, Muncie, Bradley (Shelley) Brighton, Middletown, Melissa (Phillip) Stevens, Goldthwaite, Texas, Lorese (Eric) Sharp, Logansport, and Kimberly Carroll, Brownwood, Texas; 11 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and 2 sisters, Alma Burnett and Marian Negangard, both of Muncie.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband, M. Lawrence, who died April 10, 1993, 7 brothers and 4 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 19 in the Gethsemane United Methodist Church, 1201 W. McGalliard Road, Muncie with Rev. Vickie Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18 at Gethsemane United Methodist Church and 10 –11 a.m. Thursday prior to the service.

Betty I. Clevenger, 82

EATON, IN

Betty I. Clevenger, 82, life resident of Delaware County, passed away, Thursday, May 5, 2011 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Betty was born on August 9, 1928 to Fred and Ethel (Cox) Bailey. She graduated from Eaton High School in 1947 and married Harold F. Clevenger on July 17, 1948 in Eaton.

Betty was a homemaker and attended the Eaton First Church of God. She was a member of the Warner Gear Sympathy Club and a former member of the Missionary Club at her church.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Harold Clevenger, two daughters, Dianna Studebaker (husband, Doug), Albany, and Sandy Kirtley (husband, Terry) of Hartford City, three brothers: Chester Bailey (wife, Janice), Eaton, Richard Bailey, Eaton, and Fred Bailey (wife, Betty), Eaton, four grandchildren: Shellie Goldman (husband, Sam), Tasha Fultz (husband, Gary) Kevin Kirtley (wife, Rachel), and Kirk Studebaker, six great-grandchildren: Katie Studebaker, Tyler Kirtley, Randall Fultz, Rayel Kirtley, Chloe Goldman, and Sammy Goldman, two sisters-in-law, Doris Bailey and June Bailey, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by three brothers: Ray, Glen, and Charles Bailey, three sisters: Jennie Campbell, Phyllis McKinley, and Judith Bailey.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Eaton First Church of God, 700 E. Harris St. Eaton, with Pastor Andy Denniston officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Monday, May 9, 2011, at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Eaton First Church of God or the Little Red Door, Cancer Services of Delaware County.
