Jack L. Young, 80

EATON, IN

Jack L. Young, 80, passed away Friday, December 24, 2010 at Morrison Woods Health Campus, Muncie.

Jack was born in Ft. Wayne, the son of Charles and Minnie (Doty) Young, on March 22, 1930. He graduated from Eaton High School in 1948 and married Alberta June Beouy on July 3, 1953.
He retired from AT & T in 1989 after 38 and a half years of service as a lineman & PBX(Private Branch Exchange) technician. Jack served as sexton of the Eaton Union Cemetery
Association from 1991 - 2009 and presently served on the board as Vice President.

An Army Veteran, Jack also served with the Eaton E.M.T.’s for thirty years and was presently serving on its Board of Directors. Jack was a fifty year member or Eaton Lodge #606 F. & A.M., where he was a Past Master. A long time member of the Order of Eastern Star #522, he served as Worthy Patron twice. Jack had attended the Eaton United Methodist Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Jeanette Cable, Indianapolis; son, Jason Young of Eaton; one brother, Jerry A. Young (wife, Mary Ann) of Ft. Wayne and a granddaughter Rebecca Cable.

In addition to his parents, his wife June precedes him in death, February 7, 1990.

Funeral services will held at 2:30 pm Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., with Pastor Keith Williams presiding. Burial with Military Rites by the Delaware County Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, December 28 with Masonic Rites at 8:00 pm. and one hour prior to services Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

WILMA E. HARTZELL

Fort Wayne, Indiana

Wilma E. (Love) Hartzell, 93, died Saturday, December 4, 2010 at her home.

Born on June 19, 1917, just west of Eaton, Indiana, to William P. and Elma (Taylor) Love, she graduated from Eaton High School in 1934. She received a B.A. from Ball State and an M.A. from Indiana University. She used her degrees to teach primarily high school social studies in Eaton, Dunkirk, New Castle, Montpelier, and Hartford City. In May, 1982, she retired from Blackford County High School after a 40 year teaching career.

Wilma married Fred Hartzell in Muncie on January 1, 1947. Her memberships included Wednesday Afternoon Club and Psi Iota Xi Sorority. She volunteered at Minnestrista Center, was a docent at Morrison House and enjoyed gardening and reading.

Survivors include three daughters, Janet Hartzell, Ft. Wayne, Jeanine (Donald) Rhodes, Goshen, and Peg (Randy) Baumgartner, Wolcottville; three grandchildren, Jameson Rhodes, Kayla Baumgartner and Steven Baumgartner; and one sister, Norma Milhollin, Angola.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1975, two brothers, Lawrence and James Love and a sister, Louise Davis.

Visitation will be held at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City, from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 8.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 9 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, with calling one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to Hospice Home & Visiting Nurse of Fort Wayne or the Indiana Historical Society.
