Trevor Allen Hacker, 58

EATON, IN

TREVOR "ALLEN" HACKER, 58, stood in the presence of God on Thursday, May 14, 2009 after an extended illness.

Trevor was born on January 20, 1951 to Everett and Elizabeth (Ruble) Hacker. He lived in Clarksburg, Indiana, moved to Muncie and attended Muncie Central High School. Trevor married Connie Lash on October 16, 1971 in Muncie.

Mr. Hacker retired due to illness after many years of working in the home improvement business. He was self employed in the latter years but also worked for various companies, including A-1Home Improvement, LJ Stone and Suburban Aluminum. After retirement, he enjoyed wood working and shared his many talented projects with others.

He was a member of the Union Chapel Ministries.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Connie Hacker, sons, Joel Hacker, Muncie, Aron (wife, Alycia) Hacker, Eaton, daughter, Amanda Campbell, (companion, Mark Myers), Muncie, grandchildren, Callin Campbell and Anson Everett Hacker, his mother, Elizabeth Hacker, Albany, sisters, Edna Mae (husband, Carl) Hammond, Greensburg, Ethelene (husband, Gene) Ridge, Georgia, father-in-law, John Lash, mother-in-law, Nilah Lash, both of Muncie, brothers-in-law, Rick (wife, Anna) Lash, Muncie, Randall (companion, Ann) Lash, Springport, Dan (wife, Julie) Lash, Yorktown, David (wife, Melissa) Lash, Yorktown, as well as several nieces and nephews and his longtime pal, Bandit.

He was preceded in death by his father Everett and brother Delbert.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Union Chapel Ministries 4622 N. Martin Luther King Blvd, Muncie with Pastor Glen Greiner presiding. Burial will follow in Strong Cemetery, Albany.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday, May 18 at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at Union Chapel.

Memorials may be made in Trevor’s name to the family to establish a trust for his grandchildren.

Leroy S. Gilland, 74

EATON, INDIANA

Leroy S. Gilland, 74, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009 in Eaton.

The son of Leroy W. and Naomi (Bell )Gilland, he was born January 13, 1935 in Delaware County.

He married Janice Holdren on April 18, 1953 in Jonesboro, Indiana. Her death occurred July 19, 1994. Leroy retired from New Venture Gear in January of 1991 and was a former member of the Elks Lodge in Dunkirk.

He is survived by his children: Michael A (Wanda) Gilland, Albany, Vickie (Leslie) Green, Gaston, Valerie (Michael) Dalton, Muncie, Shirley (Brian) Kurtz, Gaston, Sheryl (Raymond) Grant, Eaton, Mark Gilland, Eaton, and Douglas Gilland, Royerton, 2 sisters, Mary Lou Osborne, Anderson, and June Milton, Portland, 21 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Janice, he was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Quentin Goetz.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 14 in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Thursday.

Phillip Max Carmin, 84

KENDALLVILLE, IN

PHILLIP MAX CARMIN, 84, former Muncie resident, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009 in Kendallville.

The son of Kit and Hazel (Kirkpatrick) Carmin, he was born August 13, 1924 in Gaston, Indiana. A 1942 graduate of Harrison Township High School, he married Becky McKinley on February 6, 1949 in Eaton.

Max was well known for his work at Smittie’s Menswear, where he worked for over 50 years. He was a 50 year member of the Matthews Lodge #650 F&AM and attended the Lake Missionary Church and the Heartland Fellowship Church.

Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Becky Carmin, one daughter, Jill Carmin, one granddaughter, Samantha Carmin, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kit and Hazel Carmin.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Monday, May 4, 2009 in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, IN, with Roland Roth presiding. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

Friends may call from 2:00 to 5:00 pm, Sunday, May 3 and one hour prior to services Monday at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home.
